A couple of notes:
- The big scab going on there happened 3 weeks ago when I ran into my kitchen counter at exactly the right spot. I had torn the incision at that exact point right after the surgery and two years later it popped open again. So no it's not scabies, rabies, measles, leprosy or an STD.
- Those pouchy things on the sides? Yeah, not good. This doesn't happen in every tummy tuck surgery and the doctor wants to do a follow-up surgery to fix it. I want to wait till I'm closer to my goal weight. They don't really bother me so much but I can see they do look a little weird.
- The splotches are my Vitiligo. Yes, it's a disease but I kind of love it in a weird way. I have to avoid being out in the sun and my mom has called me both appaloosa and Powder, but parts of it are really kind of neat. Those spots develop in symmetry on each side of my body, so when I get one I know soon I'll have another. It's kind of cool in a "grow-crystals-in-a-glass-jar" science project type of way.
- Not everyone who loses a ton of weight has to have a tummy tuck. I exercised constantly on the way down, weight training and cardio, and my skin never disappeared. Some people can lose 200 lbs in a year and look like fitness models. It's all in the genes, and as my cousin Patrick says, you could buy better genes than mine in a thrift store.
So I don't think the scar is a big deal at all, but I also have spotty white marks all over my body which probably skews my opinion of it a little. I do know it's definitely a better alternative to not being able to wear pants, so I'm pretty happy with the results.
