Hi there, it ended up costing about $10,000. My insurance didn't cover it, but I know a lot of them actually do if you get a doctor to say it's medically affecting you. What a great story to share. Thanks for doing that. You are a great inspiration. I went to Dr. Geldner based on what you said. He was amazing. Very open and honest about what the experience would be like. He didn't try to make it sound like a cake walk. I am glad I read your blog first though. His staff was great too. I am definitely going to let him do my surgery. My date is in April. I will keep you posted...but I really have incredible confidence in Dr. Geldner and am not worried.

My friend Jess L. from above got me all hooked on your blog. I just love it you are on my favorites :) I started my weight loss on 2-26-2008, 2 years tomorrow. I have lost 125 pounds. Being 6' has its benefits. I really don't notice any excess skin. I am 224 right now and have about 40 pounds to go yet. I am hoping that if i keep losing it slow it will keep doing what its been doing. Keeping my fingers crossed. I am loving my size 16 gap long and lean pants ;) thanks sara

Patty, it was painful but honestly I had dry socket last year and that was waaayyyy worse. The worst part was just laying around and being unable to do much. The pain wasn't horrible, especially with good meds!

NAWS, my scar is not as bad now at all. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. It looks so much better than it did. I'll take a picture of the scar now, two years later, and post it tonight or tomorrow. Good luck! If you have any questions or anything, ask away. Obviously I have no modesty at all :)

Wow, thanks for sharing. I was wondering what the excess skin would look like. I love that you showed us the dressings, scar, etc. Now I know what to expect if I ever go down that road. Looked extremely painful, but you seem happy in the end.

Laura, thank you! I think I did end up losing weight a couple of weeks later. My body was all mixed up. It could have been the fluids or it could have just been that I was hallucinating on painkillers while looking at the scale ;)

Oh, wow! You look awesome! And don't worry, I doubt anyone is judging you, thinks your shallow, or is comparing you to the silliness of the girls on OC! That is why plastic surgery exists!

Did you lose some more weight later? Is it possible that you didn't initially because you were pumped full of fluids during surgery? Those IVs can make you gain crazy weight. I know when I got home from the hospital from having my almost-7 pound daughter and losing all of that amniotic fluid, I was only 2 pounds down. But then I lost 18 pounds in a week (so fun!), so it worked out.
